Adults & Lifelong Learning

As adults, we have a lifetime of achievements and tribulations to look back upon but also want to continue to be challenged and achieve goals.  We learn music easier because of our memories, possibly those warm musical memories we grew up with in our families and homes.  We want to continue to learn for ‘the sake of learning’ as well as for personal enjoyment and socialization. The health benefits of playing a piece with mastery raises our self-esteem and minimizes the negative effects of physical and psychological aging as well as lowers stress hormones and stress signatures in the bloodstream.

Scientists are discovering that the middle aged and older adult brain develops new adaptive mechanisms such as brain bi-lateralization, which is utilizing two sides of the brain, when faced with a challenge (such as music lessons), which formerly utilized just one side. Adults have had years of listening to their favorite music, which helps guide the ear to play melodies and rhythms. Suite Music Studios employs mnemonic devices and a wide variety of memory exercises and cognitive tools to help you learn and remember new musical concepts quickly.
